About Tamar Ansh

In the crowded world of cookbook authors, Tamar Ansh stands out as a unique figure. Her cooking is rooted in Jewish tradition and culture, enlivened with innovation and creativity, focused on health, but most of all, it is infused with a sense of spirituality. She believes passionately that the food one serves to family and guests comes from the heart and must nourish both body and soul.

Ansh, author of six books, food columnist, speaker and workshop leader, developed her culinary skills and approach to food while cooking and baking for family and friends. Her classic book, A Taste of Challah (Feldheim), is a groundbreaking work on the art of challah baking, showing readers how to prepare, shape, beautify, and bake with love (and care about/ cherish) the traditional bread that graces every Sabbath table. Beautifully photographed and clearly written, the book also (elucidates) & explores and explains the deeper mystical significance of this special Sabbath bread. Her book, Pesach – Anything's Possible! (Menucha Publishers), is packed with original, gluten-free, healthy recipes for Passover—or any day of the week. It offers those with gluten intolerance the chance to enjoy tasty, traditional kosher dishes during this ancient Jewish festival and its flavorful recipes can also be utilized by everyone throughout the year. Ansh is currently working on her third cookbook, containing healthier versions of time-honored, conventional Jewish dishes.

Tamar Ansh is also involved in writing inspirational books and articles. She has completed the second volume of her shidduch series, Riding the Waves, (a sequel to Splitting the Sea) a collection of true stories of people from diverse backgrounds meeting their soul mates. The goal of this series is to inspire people who are searching for their life’s partner with hope for their own future. Ansh is a monthly food columnist for Hamodia, one of the largest Orthodox Jewish publications. Previously, she was the leading food columnist in Mishpacha Magazine, and has been published frequently in The Jewish Press, OU.org, Aish.com, The Jewish Spirit, and Binah Magazine and others.

In person, Tamar Ansh brims with the same creativity, enthusiasm for life, and spirituality which permeate the pages of her books. She lives in Jerusalem, Israel with her family.
